I knew Linnzi, she was quite the dish, and a damn good customer service bartender. Markey's was one of my regular stops after getting off work between 2000-2004, when I had regular office hours at the Navy Reserves HQ in Arabi. You are correct about the jukebox, one of the best in town, along with Port of Call's jukebox, another regular after work stop. Linnzi was working at Markey's for money to work up her repertoire for her debut as a Nawlins jazz singer, see , or . I caught her often at The Spotted Cat with the New Orleans Jazz Vipers.

Katrina was perhaps good in at least one way: it forced exposure of Nawlins musicians beyond the boundaries that many who might appreciate their music would never venture into. Another super musician Bryan Lee, a blind Nawlins guitar troubadour of Blues, who has been playing with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and getting national exposure. Bryan is a Blues virtuoso!

Many thanks the Staff and Management of Markey's for providing those many "fairly dry and boring" respites (as described by christian above!) for those of us who were seeking to unwind after work.

You know, I never knew her name... spending less time in the bars these days. If she made it to India, good for her.

I know Nick/Nik Moon. And yes, Nik Moon is not his real name. There is a story behind it, but it has nothing to do with a famous Baltimore bartender. 'Nik' was a bartender in Baltimore. He's from Baltimore. He's an old, very special friend of mine, and I miss him alot. If you head back to Markey's, give him my email (he should have my number) and tell him to be in touch with Nanc. Its been over a year since we spoke. Thanks.

Know Althea?
